Official Unity User Group Network chapter

Cairo has the developers. Now it has the room.

Unity User Group Cairo is the first official Unity User Group in MENA: a community-owned chapter supported through Unity's global program, helped into existence and co-moderated by Sahure Labs, and built as a bilingual door for developers across the Arab world.

CO-MODERATEDSahure Labs

Sahure helped establish the chapter and serves as a co-moderator.

COMMUNITY-OWNEDSupported, not owned

The chapter belongs to its community and operates under Unity's program and code.

REGIONAL FIRSTFrom Cairo to MENA

A physical Egyptian chapter with a digital door open across the Arab world.

Not a branded meetup. A recognized community institution.

Official Unity user groups receive naming rights, access to Unity staff and other group leaders, program communications, global events, and the support structure needed to build a recurring local chapter. The group remains community-owned and must stay free, inclusive, regularly active, and accountable to a public code of conduct.

01

Recognized

The name and chapter sit inside Unity's formal User Group Network, not beside it as an unofficial fan page.

02

Connected

Leaders connect directly with Unity's community and advocacy teams and with organizers around the world.

03

Open

Meetings are free apart from direct venue or hosting costs, and the code of conduct governs every physical and digital space.

04

Durable

A leader and co-leader, regular cadence, documented operations, and continuity beyond any one person's calendar.

The developers already existed. The missing product was the room.

Three tiers. One habit.

The chapter is designed around consistency rather than spectacle. Monthly activity builds trust, quarterly events build gravity, and the annual showcase makes the year's work visible to studios, press, partners, and the wider industry.

MONTHLY01

The Hub

One to two hours of creator demos, fast technique talks, an open help desk, and networking. Low ceremony, high consistency.

Build the habit
QUARTERLY02

The Flagship

A larger evening with a marquee guest, hands-on workshop, Unity advocacy presence, and focused industry panels.

Build the gravity
ANNUAL03

The Showcase

The strongest Egyptian Unity projects of the year, demonstrated to studios, media, investors, educators, and industry guests.

Build the moment
Hybrid by design

A room in Cairo. A door for the region.

The physical chapter is Egyptian. The digital community is open to Arabic-speaking developers across the region. Sessions can be streamed, recorded, and supported by persistent online channels so distance does not decide who gets to learn or contribute.

IN THE ROOM

Cairo meetups

Studios, universities, coworking spaces, demo tables, workshops, recruiting nights, and direct human connection.

ON THE STREAM

Regional access

Live participation and recorded sessions for Arabic-speaking developers across the region and beyond.

BETWEEN EVENTS

Persistent community

Project channels, mentorship, opportunities, a help desk, and a growing Arabic Unity learning library.

The chapter is built around work in motion.

Members do not attend only to watch a stage. They show what they are building, practice inside the editor, meet collaborators, and leave with the next step clearer.

01

Creator demos

Three-to-five-minute works-in-progress with feedback, visibility, and momentum every month.

02

Editor demonstrations

Curated live presentations of Unity tools, features, and production workflows.

03

Hands-on workshops

Instructor-led sessions with prerequisites shared before the room opens.

04

Game jams

Community challenges including Ramadan and Egyptian heritage themes, judged by industry guests.

05

Panels and mentorship

Experienced builders answer craft and career questions, with deliberate paths for new members.

06

Recruiting nights

Portfolio reviews, studio introductions, job pitches, and a standing help-wanted slot.

The track no other chapter can teach

Arabic and RTL inside Unity.

Sahure's decade of Arabic production experience becomes a recurring public curriculum: the failures the official documentation rarely covers, taught in the language the region's developers actually use.

UI TOOLKIT

RTL layout

Mirroring, direction-aware design, anchors, and patterns that survive real interfaces.

TEXT

BiDi and shaping

Mixed-direction strings, numerals, font behavior, joining, and the first-line failures players notice.

PIPELINE

Localization engineering

String tables, pseudo-localization, scene context, automated checks, and production QA.

CULTURE

Beyond translation

Content, context, character, product decisions, and what it means to build for the region.

Community first is the strategy. Not the disclaimer.

The chapter is open, free, bilingual, documented, and governed by Unity's code of conduct. It exists to help the community learn and connect, not to turn attendees into a sales list.

Open

Studios, indies, students, artists, engineers, educators, and beginners all belong in the room.

Bilingual

Arabic and English materials are treated as equal working languages, not primary and secondary editions.

Recorded

Knowledge should outlive the event and become part of a durable Arabic Unity learning library for the region.

Safe

Respect, inclusion, consent, and professional conduct apply online and offline without exception.
